“Imagine a place where your child is always greeted warmly and made to feel welcome with a parent-communication experience that keeps you informed and confident that your child has fallen in love with learning.”

Hear it from our parents!

We wanted a private preschool where we knew [our daughter] would be free to learn self expression and awareness. The playground, PE, creative play, meditation, yoga, and exposure to other languages were all major selling points. The space itself is impressive. Many other schools we toured were cramped and seemed to have an air of chaos to them. I love the calm energy your school has upon entering.

Very positive and supportive. A great deal of caring and commitment for the student, the entire family and toward the curriculum from both the administrators and teachers. There’s a kindness and focus from the staff and a strong, AND a wonderfully diverse and approachable network of parents.

About Our School

Bellevue Montessori School offers an enlightening and nurturing Montessori environment to educate and support each individual child in building a foundation for life-long learning.
Bellevue Montessori School develops an academically, socially, emotionally and culturally educated community of students within the framework of acceptance, compassion and understanding, all in accordance with traditional Montessori curriculum and philosophy. We prepare students for future educational endeavors to become contributing members of their immediate and global communities.
Bellevue Montessori School is an accredited member the American Montessori Society and an established leader in Montessori education in Seattle’s Eastside since 1966.

Elementary

Bellevue Montessori Elementary classrooms provide prepared environments that arouse student curiosity in order to build an exceptional foundation and love of learning. As students move through the Montessori continuum from year to year, our experienced Montessori trained teachers work together, coordinating each students needs.
Children in Lower Elementary classrooms are bursting with questions and learning to discover answers independently. Upper Elementary students take ownership of their lessons along with exploring subjects of their own volition. Elementary work is done using concrete Montessori materials, giving students clarity and depth in their understanding of concepts. Students shift to abstraction as mastery of concepts occurs.
Classrooms are organized in two 3-year programs. The Lower Elementary class is for students, aged 6-9 and the Upper Elementary for ages 9-12. Mixed-age classrooms offer a student the opportunity to be, at one point, a leader and at other times that of one observing or being guided by a teacher or peer. Small class sizes and two teachers per class cultivate strong, enduring relationships.

Early Childhood

As the children enter their classrooms and discover enticing materials, they have the freedom to choose their own activities under the guidance of a Montessori-trained teacher. The Montessori hands on materials cultivate concentration, independence and a love of learning. While independent learning is emphasized to allow a child to grow at their own pace, a healthy emphasis is given to the development of social skills to foster empathy, respect and communication.
Our Early Childhood/Kindergarten Program is offered in three buildings all set in park like settings surrounded by Evergreen and Maple trees which form a beautiful background to our classrooms and outdoor play areas. Each of our 10 classrooms accommodate children ages two years nine months up to age six, this 3+ year age span is consistent with Montessori philosophy. Classroom enrollment varies from 20-26 children with 2-3 teachers present.

Toddler Program

The Bellevue Montessori Toddler environment includes the physical space, learning materials, our trained staff and the children themselves. Each of these elements create the perfect environment for your child to safely explore and learn through their own efforts.
Our Park Campus sits on the northwest corner of Hidden Valley Park, offering our students a lush green, natural atmosphere. Bright classrooms are filled with toddler sized furniture and materials that encourage exploration, independence, concentration and the birth of the child’s will. At this age, the work of life (reality) is of great interest to toddlers; learning how to dress oneself, use the bathroom, set the table for a meal, wash dishes and prepare food, etc. help the child to become independent, develop their gross and fine motor skills and build self esteem from their successes and frustrations in a supportive community.
We are excited to offer half day, school day and full care options for toddlers in our community. We also look forward to offering Parent & Child classes to those interested in having a once a week Montessori experience with their child.
